How do photovoltaic panels work?
Photovoltaic panels, through their cells or cards, convert radiant solar energy into electrical energy.
The cells or cedulas are small layers of silica that contain boron and phosphorus, and, through the sun's rays, generate a difference of volts (voltage) between said layers. The energy performance is collected and stored in the panels, thus, the voltage can be adjusted to a direct current system, which we will later convert into alternating current, with which to supply the home (appliances, batteries, light, etc.) .
Do I need permission to install photovoltaic panels?
Yes, it is necessary to request permission from the city council of your city, as it is an exterior reform, being processed positively in 99% of the cases.
At Novasol Mallorca, our technical department is in charge of making all the arrangements with the town hall for free.
How to regulate my installation?
The vast majority of installations are perfectly managed and approved, however, a series of assumptions must be taken into account before receiving the installation license.
- The owners of the local networks, sometimes, must grant permission for the installation.
- The materials used in the installation must have the qualification and seal of the CE.
- The installation will be carried out with the prior permission of the town hall, local council or county council.
-The installation is supervised at all times by our engineers, who will record it following the patterns of current electrical regulations and self-consumption.
Novasol Mallorca facilities are regulated in the low voltage electrical system, and will always be certified.
Better to install now or wait a few years?
Both batteries and solar panels are falling in price. This is an undeniable fact, which we must be clear about when deciding whether or not to install the panels.
However, both labor and salary costs of companies rise every year, in addition to the taxes levied on businesses.
If we take into account the savings that we begin to obtain from the moment of installation, we will conclude that it is ostensibly greater than the drop in price of the components of a photovoltaic installation. It is also necessary to take into account the aid and subsidies that currently exist in this equipment, and that in the future could disappear, as happened in 2015 with the aid for solar hot water equipment in the Andalusian Government.
Maintenance of solar panels
Taking good care of your solar panel system is important for best performance. The best care is to observe it, and report to Novasol Mallorca if you notice any anomaly.
Our systems have a useful life of at least 25 years.
It is necessary to ensure that there are no objects or elements that hinder the incidence of the sun on the panels (leaves, dust, mud, dirt, etc.). All this can lead to a loss of efficiency. All of these items can be easily removed and cleaned.
Another element that influences full performance is the absence of shadows, the fewer shadows, the greater energy efficiency.
In addition to its installation, and if our clients so wish, Novasol Mallorca has a biannual maintenance service, which will be carried out at a cost of between €100 and €184, depending on the number of solar panels that your installation has.
Should I install batteries together with the panels or not?
At Novasol Mallorca we do not offer batteries, because, at the moment, batteries are expensive and do not have a good autonomy to compensate them financially, therefore, they are not profitable. This fact will change with the introduction of new technologies and components such as graphene or lithium in high autonomy batteries.
A battery system for a common home can have an average cost of between €5,000 and €7,000, thus ostensibly increasing the final price of the installation.
